The Orthopaedics Department offers patients at The Mottistone a wide range of specialities and skills for both planned and emergency surgery.

Our Consultants have sub-specialist interests in both lower and upper limb areas, and offer replacement of hip, knee and shoulder, together with some joints in the hand. All joint replacements inserted on the Island are fully compliant with the guidelines of the National Institute for Health & Clinical Excellence (NICE).

We regularly operate on conditions of the hip, knee, shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand. Arthroscopic ('keyhole') surgery of the knee and shoulder is routinely performed. Therapeutic facilities are very modern and are backed up recently refurbished 'state of the art' orthpaedic operating theatre, MRI scanning facilities and three-dimensional CT scanning.

Please note that spinal surgery is not performed on the Island and our consultants do not offer this service.
